A charitable organization that has distributed more than £20 million to thousands of local initiatives will be recognized at an event in Cornwall, according to its organizers. The Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF), which focuses on investing in communities, announced it would host the celebration at Truro Cathedral on November 12, commencing at 13:30 GMT. Tama Haydu, CEO of CCF, stated he was “proud” of the assistance the foundation has provided to local projects since 2003. He remarked, “We are looking forward to celebrating the people behind the incredible projects at our 20 years of giving celebration.” CCF reported that it has awarded over £20 million in grants to more than 8,000 local projects and individuals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly since its establishment in 2003. The foundation confirmed that various projects, including the children in care charity Carefree Cornwall, are scheduled to attend the gathering. Carefree Cornwall works with young people, aged between 11 and 25, to aid them in managing the process of leaving care and developing positive relationships, it stated. It was noted that the charity applied for its first grant from CCF in 2006, which enabled it to conduct activities where young people could participate and feel a sense of belonging. CCF indicated that Carefree Cornwall has since received £360,000 from 21 different funders. Mari Eggins, founder of Carefree Cornwall, commented: “We would not have survived without Cornwall Community Foundation when we were a tiny charity, and we would not be thriving without them now.”
