An individual has been charged with robbery and kidnap after a taxi driver was compelled to exit their vehicle, which was subsequently driven away. Derbyshire Police reported that an incident was logged at 00:20 GMT on Monday, detailing how a taxi driver was threatened during a pick-up on Hartington Street in Derby. Officers were informed that the passenger made the taxi driver leave the vehicle before driving it off. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned on Thorntree Lane at approximately 02:00. Police confirmed that a 26-year-old man from Derby was apprehended shortly after 01:40. He has been charged with robbery, kidnap, assault, dangerous driving, possession of cannabis and amphetamine, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and possession of an offensive weapon. The force further stated that the man was remanded into police custody on Tuesday morning and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
