Stoke City captain Ben Gibson, who has scored two Championship goals this season, has stated that the team cannot solely depend on its forwards for goal-scoring. The Potters have managed to score only two goals in their last four matches, failing to find the net in games against Preston and Burnley. Gibson told BBC Radio Stoke, “It’s not just on the forwards, just as it isn’t with the defenders when we keep clean sheets because we should have goals all around the team.” He further added, “It’s something we need to address. We’ll work really hard this week, have long meetings about it and find ways to score more goals.” Tom Cannon is Stoke’s leading scorer with seven of their 19 Championship goals, but the club is currently the joint-fourth lowest scoring side in the division this season. Gibson remarked, “Tom’s been fantastic for us, we have to find more goals to support him and also give him more chances.” Stoke is currently positioned 14th in the Championship and is scheduled to play fourth-placed Sunderland away on Saturday.
