Papaipit Linse has entered a plea of guilty to the manslaughter of her seven-year-old son, Louis Linse, citing diminished responsibility. This admission was made at Swansea Crown Court on Friday, where she had previously denied a charge of murder. Linse herself contacted emergency services, dialing 999, to report her son’s death. Louis was discovered in his bed at their residence on Upper Market Street in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, on the morning of January 10. He subsequently passed away at Withybush General Hospital a brief period later. The 43-year-old Linse, whose only statements in court were to verify her identity and submit her pleas, is scheduled for sentencing on December 13. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC informed the judge that a trial for the murder charge would not proceed, given the plea of manslaughter. She also stated that the guilty plea “did not come as a surprise” to the prosecution team. Judge Paul Thomas KC described the situation as “clearly a very sensitive as well as a very tragic case.” Linse is currently undergoing treatment at the Caswell Clinic, a mental health facility located in Bridgend. The court was informed that psychiatric evidence will be presented during her sentencing hearing.
