Epsom & Ewell Borough Council has announced that it has successfully obtained funding from the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund to support its Climate Change Action Plan. The council also indicated that the solar panels recently installed on the roof of Bourne Hall are expected to contribute to its goal of achieving “carbon neutral” status by 2035. The authority reported that Bourne Hall is the most energy-intensive among its buildings. The new solar panels are projected to cover 25% of the site’s electricity consumption and reduce carbon emissions by more than nine tonnes annually. The council also stated that these panels are anticipated to save Bourne Hall approximately £15,000 each year, with these savings potentially being reinvested into community services. Furthermore, Bourne Hall, a Grade II listed building, is scheduled to have its windows replaced with double glazing in 2025. Councillor Liz Frost, chair of the environment committee, remarked on the developments, stating: “Bourne Hall is an important hub for our community.” She further added: “The installation of solar panels is just part of a series of works that will help continue Epsom & Ewell Borough Council’s drive to be carbon neutral by 2035.” Post navigation Becket’s Chapel Secures Approval for £1m Extension Young Orangutan Receives First-Class Passage to New Sanctuary
