Peterborough United forward Bradley Ihionvien, who previously netted five goals in 39 matches for former club Colchester, is expected to be unavailable until the new year due to an uncommon bone growth discovered in his leg. The 20-year-old player transferred to Posh from Colchester United during the summer, securing a three-year agreement with the League One team. However, he has participated in only four league games as a substitute, with his sole goal for Peterborough occurring in the EFL Trophy competition. “Brad has had a scan and it’s not good, he’s got a freak injury in his leg. They’ve found another bone has grown, so it’s a bit of a strange one,” Ferguson informed BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, adding, “He’s probably going to have to stay off his feet for a couple of months.” In other news, defender Rio Adebisi’s condition requires “day-to-day” monitoring as he works towards recovering from a knee injury and returning to play. Posh acquired the 24-year-old from Crewe Alexandra for an undisclosed fee, where he had played 136 times. Despite this, he has not yet made his first appearance for the club and was unable to participate in a scheduled Under-21 match last week. Ferguson further stated, “Rio is going to be a completely isolated case to the rest because the nature of his injury is so different to others.” He continued, “We’re not going to risk anything. Unfortunately, after the (training) sessions last week, a bit of swelling came up, which is to be expected, but it didn’t go down as quickly as we thought.” Ferguson outlined the immediate strategy: “The plan is for him to train Monday, to play 45 (minutes) at Brentford on Tuesday, I think that would be good for him and his confidence to expose him to a game, but if not, we’ll just have to manage him as best as we can.” Peterborough currently holds the 12th position in the league standings and is scheduled to play Reading at home on Saturday, a fortnight after their decisive 6-1 victory over Cambridge United in their previous fixture.
