Liam Manning, the head coach for Bristol City, has confirmed that full-back George Tanner is cleared to play against Luton Town on Thursday after a period of absence due to injury. The 25-year-old player was listed as an unused substitute during the Robins’ 2-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, having been sidelined for the preceding eight league fixtures because of an injury. Manning conveyed to BBC Radio Bristol that “George can do some minutes.” He added, “Naturally, when you’ve been out for a little while and you come back you’ve got to be a little cautious but you also trust in the work that the boys do because they do a lot of conditioning work, so George will be in contention.” Nevertheless, Manning maintained a cautious stance regarding the potential return of Bermuda international forward Nahki Wells to first-team play. Regarding Wells, Manning stated, “Nahki’s been out on the grass. Hopefully if he responds right we can get him back in the group training on Christmas Day, but again we have to see how he responds to today.”
