Revised bus timetables and alterations to services are scheduled for implementation across Cumbria. Cumberland Council announced its collaboration with operator Stagecoach to modify several routes, with these changes set to commence on 4 November. Noteworthy adjustments include the introduction of a new Millom town service, an increase in frequency for the route between Carlisle and Workington, and the establishment of a new service connecting Egremont to West Cumberland Hospital. Stagecoach also stated that winter timetables for the Lake District region would become effective from Monday. These modifications encompass the reinstatement of the Silloth to Maryport route and the launch of a new service linking Maryport and Workington, passing through Dearham and Broughton Moor. Regarding a specific route, Stagecoach indicated that the service between Cleator Moor and Whitehaven hospital would “provide dependable transport to essential services with a special focus on accommodating passengers with mobility needs.” Furthermore, the company confirmed that the route from Frizington to Cockermouth has been prolonged until March, supported by funding from Cumberland Council. The local authority previously reported in August that it had secured £2.4 million from the government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan funding, intended for the development of a more “sustainable and convenient” network. This development follows a period during which the council had solicited public input to help shape the design of future bus routes.
