A jury has begun deliberations to reach a verdict in the case of an individual charged with the attempted murder of a Kent Police officer, an incident involving 23 stab wounds inflicted with scissors. Testimony at Maidstone Crown Court indicated that Robert Jenner assaulted PC Sean Quinn in June of the previous year, resulting in a “gaping wound” on the officer’s forehead that exposed his skull. Law enforcement officers had visited Mr. Jenner’s residence in Maidstone following suspicions that he had exposed himself while running unclothed in a nearby park. Mr. Jenner has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and wounding with intent. The court was informed that Mr. Jenner had 11 prior convictions related to exposure. He had been released from custody just two days prior to the assault, having violated an order that prohibited him from wearing transparent garments. The prosecution asserted that Mr. Jenner’s actions indicated an intent to take PC Quinn’s life. The defense contended that Mr. Jenner’s actions were in self-defense against what he perceived as an unlawful arrest or unauthorized entry into his apartment, and that he had no intention of killing or gravely injuring PC Quinn. His stance, as presented to the court, was that as a naturist, he possessed the right not to wear clothing.
