Police in Omagh, County Tyrone, have charged an individual subsequent to the recovery of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £1.8 million. The discovery of the illicit substances occurred on Thursday morning when detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) conducted a search of a van in the Doogary Road vicinity. The PCTF’s ongoing investigation targets suspected criminal operations associated with the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA). The 38-year-old male faces charges of possessing Class A controlled drugs with the intent to supply them, as well as importing a controlled drug. Det Insp Pyper stated, “We are committed to protecting our communities by removing dangerous drugs from our streets.” He further noted the police’s dedication to addressing “all types of organised criminality linked to paramilitaries.” The individual is scheduled to appear before Dungannon Magistrates on Saturday.
