A TV actress, who secured a significant role alongside well-known figures in an upcoming drama, has admitted to not recognizing her famous co-stars at the commencement of filming. Buket Komur features in the Channel 4 zombie drama “Generation Z” alongside Robert Lindsay and Anita Dobson, both recognized as prominent British television personalities. However, Komur, an alumna of the University of East Anglia (UEA) from Hertfordshire, explained that her upbringing involved watching Turkish television programs, which meant she was unfamiliar with their renowned performances. She stated, “I got to have a chill and very personal introduction to them, working with them first-hand.” Lindsay is widely recognized for his parts in the sit-coms “Citizen Smith” and “My Family,” whereas Dobson is remembered for her portrayal of Angie Watts in “EastEnders.” Komur expressed her enjoyment in gaining knowledge from their “wealth of experience.” The series also includes other notable actors such as Sue Johnston and Johnny Vegas. Komur revealed that she had aspired to an acting career since her earliest memories. During her childhood, she was described as a “bookworm” with a passion for participating in acting classes and workshops. She pursued a joint honours degree in film studies and English literature at UEA in Norwich. Throughout her studies, she frequently commuted between London and Norwich for acting instruction and auditions. Her initial television credit was in 2019, appearing in the ITV drama “Honour.” She noted that the Covid pandemic, which occurred during her final year of university, altered the auditioning process, rendering it “cut-throat” because of the substantial number of individuals submitting audition tapes. Regarding her acting career, Komur stated: “Figuring it out in your heart what you love about it is the most important thing, then just going for it.” The inaugural episode of “Generation Z” was broadcast on 27 October, with the concluding installment scheduled for Monday night. Komur invited her childhood friends to view the first episode alongside her, characterizing the experience as a “full-circle moment.” She commented: “It was nice to watch it with the people who knew I always wanted to do this.” She added: “It’s quite overwhelming when you see yourself for the first time. It’s quite a vulnerable thing seeing all the work you’ve done.” Follow Norfolk news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X.Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
