Exeter Chiefs emerged as the sole undefeated team in Premiership Women’s Rugby this season after securing a 29-12 victory over Saracens in Saturday’s crucial top-of-the-table encounter. This win allowed the Chiefs to surpass Saracens and claim the leading position in the Premiership Women’s Rugby standings. Both clubs had previously won their initial four matches; however, Saracens held the league leadership entering Saturday’s fixture due to having accumulated an additional two bonus points. Nevertheless, the Chiefs concluded Saracens’ flawless start by achieving a bonus-point win at Sandy Park, establishing a three-point lead at the top of the table. Merryn Doidge initiated the scoring for the home side. Saracens subsequently took the lead with tries from Sarah McKenna and Akina Gondwe. The Chiefs retaliated with a try from Flo Robinson, and Alex Tessier successfully converted a penalty, resulting in a 17-12 advantage for Exeter at half-time. Exeter asserted dominance in the second half, as Eilidh Sinclair and Hope Rogers each scored a try, securing the additional bonus point. On Sunday, Gloucester-Hartpury resumed their winning streak, achieving a 27-14 bonus-point win against Sale Sharks, who currently sit at the bottom of the league. The reigning champions had suffered a defeat against Saracens in their previous match, but Beth Stafford provided them with an early lead by scoring the opening try. Sale, still without a victory, responded with a try from Sofia Stefan, bringing the score level by half-time. Gloucester reclaimed the lead following the interval courtesy of Nel Metcalfe, and Neve Jones subsequently extended their advantage. Jones then scored her second try to secure the bonus point around the hour mark, with Charlotte Woodman further enhancing the victory. Sale’s Trudy Cowan scored a late consolation try. Gloucester advanced to third position in the table, whereas Sale continued to occupy the last spot. In other league action, Trailfinders secured a 34-17 bonus-point triumph over Leicester Tigers, who are still seeking their first win. Chloe Rollie initiated the scoring for the visiting team, followed by Rosie Inman’s second try. Fran McGhie narrowed the gap to five points by the interval before Leicester gained a slight lead following Julia Omokhuale’s converted try. Trailfinders re-established their lead with a try from Julia Schell, and Caity Mattinson extended their advantage just one minute later. Emma Taylor then secured the bonus point for Trailfinders before scoring a fifth try, while McGhie also achieved her second try for the Tigers.
