Essential maintenance and repair work will lead to the temporary closure of two leisure facilities. Stratford Park Leisure Centre, located in Stroud, ceased operations on Friday and is scheduled to resume services on 9 November, featuring an enhanced cafe. The Pulse Leisure Centre in Dursley will be inaccessible to the public from 4 November through 13 November. Both facilities, managed by Stroud District Council, are slated to reopen with “a new look” and will be rebranded as Active Lifestyles Stroud and Active Lifestyles Dursley, according to information released by the council. The renovation work at Stratford Park leisure centre forms part of a £2.7 million investment allocated to the site, encompassing a five-year repair initiative aimed at enhancing the facility, originally built in 1975. The district council indicated that these funds are designated to cover expenses for brickwork repairs, roofing, decoration, doors, flooring, upgrades to the air conditioning system, lighting, and the external toilet block at the leisure centre. Additionally, as part of these modifications, individuals holding memberships at the Stroud leisure centre will gain access to the amenities available at The Pulse Dursley. Angela Gillingham, who serves as the head of community services, stated that personnel are diligently striving to deliver the highest possible standard of service. She further commented, “We want a leisure service for everyone living in our district and we have thought long and hard about what we want to provide.” Gillingham concluded by saying, “We think this is an exciting first step on a whole new offering for our district.”
