Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has stated his belief that “a full strength Liverpool are better than Manchester City at the moment” and anticipates they will defeat the reigning champions this Sunday. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton expressed a reservation, saying, “I just worry about the injury to Ibrahima Konate.” He added that “If he is fit for the weekend you have got to say that you fancy Liverpool really strongly.” Sutton observed that City “absolutely capitulated on Tuesday [against Feyenoord]” and now “just look normal, like any other team.” He remarked that “The wheels are off and it is so unusual for us to see that.” While asserting that “A full strength Liverpool are better than City at the moment,” Sutton also questioned, “but can we keep ruling them out? They are going to come good eventually, aren’t they?” He highlighted that “What Liverpool have that City and Arsenal don’t is a greater strength in depth in their squad.” Sutton pointed to the goalkeeping position, noting that “Caoimhin Kelleher has always been outstanding and he’s got a brilliant temperament. In many respects it was not a great surprise to see him save a penalty.” He then added, “Kylian Mbappe is normally lethal but had his boots on the wrong feet in this game.” Regarding the right-back position, Sutton mentioned that while “Conor Bradley looked to have done his hamstring tonight,” Liverpool has “Trent Alexander-Arnold to come back in for City at the weekend.”
