A “significant” fire caused extensive damage to a fish and chip shop located in Norwich. Emergency services, including fire crews from Carrow, Sprowston, Earlham, Wroxham, Aylsham, and Wymondham, responded to a call on Catton Grove Road at 11:47 GMT. The incident, which occurred within Happy Fish and Chips, also saw the deployment of an aerial ladder platform unit. Firefighters successfully extinguished the flames within 45 minutes, and an inquiry into the origin of the fire has commenced. According to Jimmy Rothwell, station manager for Norfolk Fire Service, the fire was “well alight” upon the arrival of the crews. He stated, “Smoke and flames were coming out of the door but crews worked really hard to get it under control really quickly.” “It’s awful [for the owners], especially this time of year, so we are just trying to give them some reassurance that we are doing everything we can to find out what caused the fire.” “It was a challenging job and a significant fire but we were able to contain it to just one premises and we had the fire completely out within 45 minutes.”
