A well-known Santa’s sleigh tour through suburban areas has been reinstated after its cancellation due to safety concerns and a lack of volunteers. The neighbouring Chesterfield Round Table offered to provide assistance after learning that the Sheffield Round Table group had been compelled to suspend their sleigh operations due to vehicle maintenance issues. The Chesterfield group, which operates its own sleigh tour, has extended its schedule to include two additional dates in the city’s western suburbs. Its chairman, Michael Burnell, stated that it “was the right thing to do”. Last year, the Sheffield sleigh run contributed to raising over £3,500 for the Cavendish Cancer Care charity. On Sunday 15 December, the sleigh is scheduled to visit Norton Lees, Jordanthorpe, Greenhill, and Dore. The following day, it will be in Millhouses, Greystones, Crosspool, and Lodge Moor. Mr. Burnell further commented: “We had seen the huge disappointment from the residents of Sheffield with the cancellation of the sleigh run so we have added two extra dates to our own sleigh ride to help out.”
