A church in Kent has issued an appeal for a volunteer chef to prepare its Christmas Day lunch, intended for individuals who would otherwise spend the day alone. For the past two decades, Tonbridge Baptist Church has offered a subsidized meal to anyone who would be solitary on December 25. The location has previously accommodated up to 92 guests. Margaret Bull, who has frequently organized this festive meal, stated, “we will not have Christmas Day if we don’t have a cook.” Speaking to BBC Radio Kent, she added, “It is such a big thing to cook on a Christmas Day. “Someone has got to volunteer. We would never ask anyone to do it.”” The church extends an invitation to individuals who are alone to reserve their spot in advance for the subsidized lunch, which costs £15 and includes a three-course meal and a gift. Ms Bull commented, “It’s just a lovely day. Everybody is happy. All the helpers get fed as well.” According to the church, prospective volunteers should possess appropriate catering certification and ensure they have their own transportation on Christmas Day.
