Following Sunday’s dramatic 4-3 comeback defeat at home to rivals Chelsea, which saw Spurs fall into the bottom half of the Premier League table, supporters were invited to share their perspectives. Below are some of the submitted comments: Andy characterized the match as emblematic of “Ange’s Spurs,” describing it as “haphazard, riddled with missed opportunities and stupid mistakes.” He observed, “One minute we’re great, the next rubbish.” In contrast, Andy viewed Chelsea as “well coached and clinical; working together as a cohesive unit.” He questioned the coaching and tactics, stating, “Ange talks a great game, but where’s the coaching? Where’s the tactics? There’s a feeling we are just winging it every time we play any opposition.” Rose commented that “Spurs were sloppy in passing and should have (once again) put the game to bed early doors.” She added that “Ange must take some responsibility,” noting that “Playing with such intensity for 40 minutes you could see the Spurs players were tired in the second half but there were no decent subs until 78 mins.” Rose concluded that “He needs to find a way to get Maddison in the team.” Keith expressed significant frustration, stating, “Very frustrating and the only consistency we have is inconsistency.” He criticized “Poor and naïve decisions on and off the pitch with both tackles for the penalties reckless and unnecessary.” Keith also observed that “Increasingly, Ange is looking out of his depth in the Premier League – as are some of the players,” suggesting that “At this rate even a top six finish is unrealistic and Tamworth away is now looking like a tricky game too.” He concluded with, “So hard being a Tottenham fan.” Jim declared himself “Sick of it now,” asserting, “We could give Ange time but nothing will change.” He described Ange as “Stubborn, arrogant, disrespectful of the fans,” and the team’s play as “One dimensional football with the occasional thrilling victory but enough is enough.” Jim concluded by stating, “There are plenty of talented coaches out there who could get a better tune out of that squad. I’m done with him.” JB, a supporter of Spurs “since 1978,” conveyed a sense of profound disappointment, stating, “just when you think you can’t feel any sadder or more humiliated and embarrassed, you get a season like this and a performance like that.” He added, “No other quality side would rollover over like that when 2-0 up,” and expressed a wish that “the players felt half the hurt and pain the real fans do.” Peter attributed Spurs’ difficulties to injuries, asserting, “Just injuries costing Spurs. No team could deal with what they are having to.” He expressed optimism, believing that “When more players are fit, they’ll get back to their best.”
