A man died and another sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run incident. Three individuals have been apprehended following the collision, which took place on Monday just before 23:45 GMT at the A34 Six Ways roundabout on Victoria Road in Aston, Birmingham. The deceased, a man in his 20s, was a rear-seat occupant of a Ford Focus that was involved in a crash with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. One of the vehicles was found overturned. The occupants of the Mitsubishi departed the scene; however, two men, aged 18 and 19, later sought hospital treatment and were subsequently detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A third man, aged 41, has also been taken into police custody for questioning, suspected of assisting an offender. The police force indicated its belief that “at least” one additional person was travelling in the Mitsubishi and urged that individual to come forward. The West Midlands Ambulance Service stated that upon arrival at the location, one of the vehicles was discovered on its roof. A second passenger from the Ford received treatment for serious injuries and was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, according to the service. It further reported that a third man was conveyed to the same hospital for medical attention to injuries not considered serious. Two other individuals in the car were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Officers conveyed their sympathies to the victim’s loved ones and committed to providing all possible support. The roundabout was reopened to traffic around 08:15 GMT on Tuesday, though Victoria Road remained closed for ongoing investigative work. Police have appealed for anyone with relevant information or dash-camera footage to make contact. For updates, BBC Birmingham can be followed on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
