The incident occurred when the vehicle departed the A66 route close to Threlkeld in Cumbria, specifically between the A591 at Keswick and the A5091 (Troutbeck), shortly after 05:00 GMT. National Highways has indicated that the roadway is expected to stay inaccessible for the remainder of the day.
