Police conducted a two-day operation focused on shoplifting across towns in Thanet. Officers from Kent Police carried out patrols on December 13 and 14, concentrating on areas including Westwood Cross, Margate Road, and Westwood Road in Broadstairs, as well as Haine Road in Ramsgate. In total, 14 individuals were stopped and searched by officers, with eight of them found to be in possession of goods believed to be stolen. Neighbourhood Sergeant Ben Rose stated: “Our message to any would-be thieves thinking of taking advantage of the busy shopping season to commit crime is to think again.” He further explained that “Officers are carrying out patrols around our high streets and shopping areas in Thanet, and they are working closely with plain clothes colleagues as well as businesses and CCTV operators. “They will pursue anyone believed to be committing crime and take action to stop them.” Information on BBC Kent is available on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
