Police have confirmed the death of a man after a road traffic collision occurred late on Friday in County Armagh. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is seeking witnesses regarding the fatal incident involving a male pedestrian in Crossmaglen. Authorities received a call shortly after 23:50 GMT, reporting a man lying on the Cullaville Road, which connects Crossmaglen and Cullaville. Upon their arrival at the location, police discovered a man on the road suffering from severe injuries. Detective Inspector Michael Winters stated: “CPR was commenced until the arrival of ambulance staff but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.” The PSNI is urging individuals who were on the Cullaville Road near the time of the collision, or anyone who observed the accident, to get in touch with officers. Additionally, they are requesting any available dash-cam footage. The Cullaville Road has since been reopened to traffic. Aoife Finnegan, a Newry, Mourne and Down Slieve Gullion councillor, described the incident as “devastating news” for the local community. She added: “I have spoken to the PSNI and want to follow up with a multi-agency meeting to see how we can prevent this from happening,” continuing, “Our condolences go to the family and friends of this individual.”
