Preparations have commenced for the construction of a footpath and cycleway, designed to establish a “safe, sustainable” transport route for both pedestrians and cyclists. Wiltshire Council announced that this shared-use Melksham Oak footpath, located in Wiltshire, is intended to form an “essential link” connecting Melksham Oak Community School with surrounding community areas. Councillor Tamara Reay characterized the initiative as a “fantastic step forward” in Wiltshire Council’s dedication to “creating safe travel options.” The project is anticipated to conclude by Spring 2025. Upon its completion, the pathway will measure three metres in width. The initial phase is planned to extend from the relief road within the new East Melksham development, traversing adjacent fields, to connect with Melksham Oak school and the Woolmore Farm site. Subsequently, phase two will involve building the concluding segment from Woolmore Farm’s northern boundary to the A365 Bath Road. After the preparatory work is finished, the primary construction of the path is slated to commence early in the new year, contingent on appropriate ground conditions. The council indicated that the preliminary work for the project’s first phase will, on occasion, necessitate temporary traffic management measures to regulate site access for a certain duration. Ms Reay commented: “It will significantly benefit students, residents and visitors alike, providing healthier and more sustainable travel options and strengthening connectivity across our community, enabling more people to leave their car at home should they wish to do so.” Post navigation Eastbourne Identified as England’s Premier Stargazing Destination Ferry Service Suspended Until February Due to Mechanical Fault
