A man has been formally charged subsequent to an XL bully dog attacking a 12-year-old girl. Law enforcement officers responded to reports of a dog assault on October 7 at a residence located in Nantyglo, Blaenau Gwent. The 12-year-old girl was transported to a hospital and has since been released, though she has sustained injuries described as life-changing. The individual facing charges is a 37-year-old man from Brynmawr. He has been accused of possessing a banned breed without the necessary licence and of being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control in a public area. Furthermore, he faces a charge for being in possession of an offensive weapon within a private setting. The XL bully involved in the incident was seized and subsequently euthanized. The man is scheduled to appear before Newport Magistrates’ Court on December 9.
