An elderly man and woman, both in their 80s, have passed away after being involved in a collision. Norfolk Police reported that a white BMW Mini One struck two pedestrians on Sunday at 16:20 GMT. The incident took place on the A148 at its junction with Avenue Road in High Kelling, Norfolk. The force confirmed that the man and woman, identified as the pedestrians, died at the scene. A spokesperson for the Diocese of Norwich characterized them as “much loved” members of “our church family”. The driver of the Mini, a man in his 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He was transported to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he currently remains. The road was closed to facilitate the attendance of emergency services, including an ambulance, at the scene, and it was reopened just after 01:00 on Monday. The force has issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the Mini’s manner of driving prior to the incident. In a statement, Reverend Canon Howard Stoker, the Rector of Holt with High Kelling, conveyed that his “thoughts and prayers” were with all those affected by “this double tragedy”. He added: “Understandably, members of our congregations are reeling in shock and filled with sorrow following the tragic death of two much loved members of our church family.” He further stated: “They were loved and respected for their kindness, generosity and friendship by all who knew them and they will be dearly missed.” The statement concluded: “Coming to terms with such a loss and the manner of their death is incredibly difficult, but coming so close to Christmas makes it even harder.” Post navigation Orkney Charity Empowers Female Prisoners in Zimbabwe Through Toy Knitting Initiative Neil Piggott Sentenced to 24 Additional Years After New Abuse Reports Emerge
