Bristol City is set to host Luton Town, with the home side currently experiencing a four-game winless streak. The Robins’ recent performance includes two losses and two draws in their last four matches, having last secured a victory against Plymouth on 30 November. Luton arrives at Ashton Gate having won two of their past four games and trails their upcoming opponents by two points. Historically, Bristol City has lost only two of their last 16 home league games against Luton Town, recording eight wins and six draws. Their most recent encounter at Ashton Gate saw Bristol City win 2-0 in August 2022. Conversely, Luton has a strong record against Bristol City in league play, winning eight of their last 11 games (D1 L2), though both defeats occurred at Ashton Gate, in the 2019-20 and 2022-23 seasons. On Boxing Day last year, Bristol City secured a 4-1 victory over Watford. However, the team has not achieved consecutive wins on December 26 since 2013 (a 1-0 win against Walsall) and 2014 (a 2-1 win against Yeovil). In contrast, Luton has a strong Boxing Day record, having won four of their last six league matches on this date, including victories in each of the last two years against Norwich (2-1 in 2022) and Sheffield United (3-2 in 2023). Bristol City’s Nahki Wells has scored four goals in five Championship starts against Luton, with all four goals coming on home soil (one with QPR, three with Bristol City).
