Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has apprehended four individuals in connection with an alleged conspiracy to murder a man, as the force persists with its initiative to combat weapons-related crime. This development follows an incident on 4 December, where the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg in Woodlands Road, Cheetham Hill. GMP also reported an additional 13 arrests, which occurred during inquiries into four separate shooting incidents in the Oldham area between 25 October and 8 December. During these operations, law enforcement personnel confiscated a shotgun and various drugs. Detective Superintendent Joe Harrop stated: “There has been a rise in firearms incidents around specific parts of Oldham and our investigations into these remain ongoing.” The four men taken into custody concerning the Cheetham Hill shooting are 18, 21, 26, and 32 years old. The police force indicated that these individuals have subsequently been granted conditional bail, with the exception of the 32-year-old, who was sent back to prison. Over the last three years, GMP has reported the confiscation of 232 firearms.
