A woman who had been raped by a serial offender realized she was not the sole victim after receiving a Facebook message from another woman who had also been assaulted by the same individual. This initial victim subsequently shared her experience involving Paul Wilson with a third woman, who then disclosed that Wilson had likewise raped her while she was asleep. The first victim also reported that Wilson had kicked her in the legs, face, and head, resulting in her being battered and bruised. Paul Wilson, a 44-year-old from Southport, Merseyside, received a 21-year prison sentence, along with an additional five years on licence. This sentence followed his conviction at Liverpool Crown Court for four counts of rape and one count of causing actual bodily harm. During the sentencing, Judge David Swinnerton addressed Wilson, stating: “You have shown no insight and no remorse.” Prosecutor Gareth Roberts informed the court that one of the victims, who had been raped multiple times, learned about the second victim through the Facebook message she received. The second woman testified that she had engaged in consensual sexual activity with Wilson on previous occasions. However, during their final encounter, he raped her, ceasing only after she struck him on the head with a heavy candle. The third woman became distressed and revealed she had also been raped by Wilson after the first victim recounted her experience. Lloyd Morgan, representing the defense, stated that Wilson had endured “traumas” in his life and had been participating in rehabilitation courses while held on remand. Wilson is required to serve a minimum of 14 years of his sentence before he can apply for parole. The court was informed that Wilson, residing on Queens Road, continued to assert his innocence and planned to appeal his convictions. Additional reporting was provided by Lynda Roughley.
