On Sunday, Tottenham secured a victory against Aston Villa after overcoming an initial deficit, marking the third consecutive occasion they have achieved this in their Premier League home fixtures. During Sunday’s broadcast of Match of the Day 2, Phil Jones, a former defender for Manchester United, commented on the team’s performance, stating: “We sit here often and praise the players a lot, but sometimes the managers deserve praise and today especially.” He further added that “Ange made some decisions and substitutions that benefitted the team and ultimately they got the result they wanted in the end.” In 2024, Tottenham has accumulated more points (24) from losing positions in Premier League home matches than any other club. Manchester City ranks second in this statistic with 14 points. Former Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy further commented: “It shows that the way Ange plays, that relentless press and willingness to keep going forward and keep making chances does work – especially at home.” He continued by stating: “There’s no way, when you watch Tottenham play, that you think even when they’re a goal down they’re not going to make chances. It’s a bit different away from home, you can have a debate about whether they should be the same, but certainly at home they’re a force to be reckoned with.”
