Ben Curran, brother of England internationals Sam and Tom, has been named in Zimbabwe’s squad for their one-day international series against Afghanistan. The 28-year-old is the son of Kevin Curran, who played 11 ODIs for Zimbabwe between 1983 and 1987, and subsequently served as their head coach from 2005 to 2007. Curran, who made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire in August 2018 and played for the club between 2018 and 2022, receives his maiden call-up after an impressive domestic season. He is currently the leading run-scorer in Zimbabwe’s 50-over competition, averaging 64.50 this season. The left-hander also leads the statistics in their red-ball competition, with an average of 74.14, while their T20 competition is yet to commence this season. The three-match ODI series is scheduled to begin on December 17, with the preceding T20s taking place from December 11 to 14. A two-Test series is set to start on December 26, for which a squad has not yet been announced. Zimbabwe is also slated to face England in a one-off Test at Trent Bridge on May 22, 2025. Curran’s brothers, Sam and Tom, have both represented England in all three formats, participating in 117 and 60 games respectively. Sam is currently part of England’s white-ball plans, but Tom’s last appearance was in 2021.
