An initiative has been introduced with the objective of attracting additional businesses to Canterbury, a city situated in Kent. This “Choose Canterbury” campaign represents a joint effort between the city council and Locate in Kent. Companies intending to establish new operations or relocate existing ones will receive assistance in identifying suitable premises and securing access to grants and loans. Furthermore, aid will be provided to employees and their families who choose to move to the region. Chris Cornell, the cabinet member for economic development and inclusion, commented: “We are uniquely placed. We’re close to London, along with fantastic transport links, the Channel and the Thames Estuary and have sites available for business growth.“When you add that to our rich history and cultural heritage that attracts people to this corner of the Garden of England and the fact we have a skilled workforce supported by university-backed specialist schools in engineering and medicine, it is an irresistible combination.” Charlie Hutchings-Lawrence, Locate in Kent’s business development manager, stated: “We will be working hard to attract new businesses from hotel groups to new co-working spaces while working with others to explore longer term investment opportunities.”
