Following Cercle Brugge’s 1-0 defeat to Standard Liege, which places them 14th in the Belgian Pro League, Neil Critchley has stated that Hearts must perform at their peak, both “physically and mentally,” to secure a victory against Cercle Brugge in the upcoming Conference League match on Thursday. Hearts, managed by Critchley, currently hold six points after three European league matches, positioning them 12th in the standings, two points clear of their Belgian rivals. To continue their European campaign beyond Christmas, Hearts must secure a spot among the top 24 teams in the competition. Critchley has ensured thorough preparation for his inaugural European away fixture leading the Gorgie club. He remarked, “I’ve watched them myself, as the staff have, as we always do. We prepare for the games, and we know the type of team that we’re going to be facing.” He further elaborated, “We know their style of play. We know their strengths and weaknesses, if you like. That’s what we do.” Critchley continued, “We try to negate their strengths and try to exploit the things that are going to give us an advantage in the game. There’s quite clear traits that are consistent when you watch this team play.” He also noted, “They make it difficult for you. Any game away from home in Europe is a difficult contest.” Critchley concluded by reiterating, “We know we’re going to have to be at our best. We’re going to have to be here physically, mentally, but if we are, then we’ll have an opportunity of picking up three points.” Post navigation Statistical Overview: Plymouth Argyle vs. Swansea City Statistical Overview: Coventry City vs. Plymouth Argyle
