A charitable organization has announced a £20,000 reward for details concerning a father and son who vanished in Spain over five years ago. Daniel Poole and his son Liam, residents of Burgess Hill, West Sussex, journeyed to Malaga in 2019. In 2022, Sussex Police decided to classify their disappearance as a murder investigation. Annabelle Goodenough, the Sussex regional manager for the charity Crimestoppers, stated that Daniel and Liam’s family merited “justice, answers and closure”. Sussex Police reported on Wednesday that two men in the UK were apprehended and interrogated on suspicion of murder before being released under investigation. Crimestoppers specified that its reward is for information provided solely to the organization “that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for their murder”. The charity operates independently of the police force but is assisting with the inquiry. Previously, Sussex Police had also extended a reward of £10,000 for information pertinent to an arrest and charge. Upon their arrival in Spain on 31 March 2019, Daniel and Liam rented a grey Peugeot 308, bearing the registration number 0254 KTM. The vehicle was never returned, and their luggage, along with their passports, remained at their hotel. Spanish Police subsequently discovered the vehicle abandoned. Ms Goodenough commented: “We know it can be hard for some people to speak directly to the police which is why our charity is here for you. “We are hoping that with the passage of time it will be easier to share what you know.” The reward will be accessible until 9 March 2025.
