Manchester City has named former Sweden international Therese Sjogran as the director of football for its women’s team. Sjogran concluded her international football career following the 2015 Women’s World Cup. The 47-year-old, who earned over 200 international caps, takes over from Dane Nils Nielsen, who departed the position in June. Sjogran, a former midfielder, comes to the club from Swedish team FC Rosengard, where she has served as sporting director since 2015. Her responsibilities, commencing officially on 1 December, will include “oversee[ing] and support[ing]” head coach Gareth Taylor, in addition to managing player recruitment. Charlotte O’Neill, the managing director, stated: “She is an undisputed icon of the game and has made a real impact on and off the pitch in both a playing and directorial capacity over the past two decades.” O’Neill added: “We have a fantastic team working behind the scenes to help the club compete for the top honours, and Therese is an excellent addition to that cohort.” Post navigation Manchester Derby Tactics: Glasner and Ten Hag’s Potential Influence on United’s Strategy 60-Year-Old Prepares for Global Sail in Shed-Built Boat
