Midwives will be assisting with the birth of newborns throughout Christmas Eve night. On average, 16 babies are born annually on Christmas Day at Frimley Park and Wexham Park NHS hospitals in Berkshire. To mark these significant birth dates, commemorative hampers will be presented to the parents of the first babies born on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. James Clarke, the chief strategy officer at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, stated: “Thanks to the generosity of the public and the hard work of Frimley Health Charity, we can bring festive cheer to those spending Christmas in our hospitals.” The Frimley Health Charity’s Golden Christmas Appeal successfully gathered over £50,000 in donations from local residents this year. These funds are designated to provide 2,700 presents for patients to receive on Christmas morning, along with hampers for various hospital departments. Additionally, Frimley Health’s catering teams are preparing Christmas dinners, complete with festive trimmings, for nearly 1,000 staff members on duty and 1,485 patients. Mr Clarke added: “Our teams have cared for a record number of patients this year, showing incredible commitment and professionalism. We’re grateful for their dedication and hope they can enjoy some quality time with loved ones this Christmas.”
