Prosecutors have announced that no further action will be taken against an individual who was apprehended on suspicion of blackmailing television presenter Alison Hammond. A 36-year-old man from Warwickshire was arrested and subsequently released by West Midlands Police last year. This occurred after allegations surfaced that Ms. Hammond, a co-presenter of ITV’s This Morning, had been targeted with blackmail demands for substantial sums of money. It was claimed that a man had threatened to disseminate false information about her if she did not comply with his demands. The police force confirmed it conducted a thorough investigation; however, the Crown Prosecution Service concluded that no additional proceedings would be pursued. West Midlands Police stated, “We have passed on this information to all parties involved.” Ms. Hammond, who was born in Birmingham and gained recognition on Big Brother in 2002, took over from comedian Matt Lucas in 2023 to co-present Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off alongside comedian Noel Fielding. She is also slated to host Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend next year, a new BBC interview program where she will spend 48 hours with various celebrities. Ms. Hammond’s representatives and the CPS have been contacted for comment.
