Following Watford’s 1-0 victory over Bristol City, head coach Tom Cleverley expressed his wish for his team to exhibit “a bit more entertaining” play. This result came after the Hornets conceded two points during stoppage time in a 2-2 draw at Plymouth last Friday, prior to securing a narrow win against the Robins at Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening. The recent win elevated Watford to fifth place, guaranteeing their retention of a play-off spot ahead of their home fixture against QPR this weekend. Speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio, Cleverley stated: “Friday, the performance is sustainable to go in an upward trajectory, and tonight [Tuesday], the mindset is.” He further added: “Now our challenge is to put the two of them together as consistently as we can, starting with QPR on Saturday.” Despite this aspiration, Watford currently ranks as the third most engaging team in the Championship, having scored 50 goals over 17 matches. This tally is six goals fewer than Norwich City, who lead with 56 goals in their games, and two less than Plymouth, with 52. Nevertheless, Cleverley remains keen for his squad to enhance their offensive production, building upon a sequence of three successive 1-0 home victories. Cleverley reiterated: “Like I said before, the challenge is performance on Friday, mindset this evening – put them both together Saturday and try and be a bit more entertaining.”
