Emergency services are scheduled to conduct a training exercise simulating a chemical leak incident near the Humber Bridge this Tuesday. Visitors to the Humber Bridge Country Park may observe the drill, which organisers have described as “extremely lifelike” and will feature role-play scenarios involving simulated injuries. This emergency response training will take place in the country park’s car park, focusing on a hypothetical chemical spill occurring during a running event. Andrew Arundel, the chief operating officer at the Humber Bridge, urged the public “not to be alarmed,” clarifying that the exercise is “entirely safe to those taking part and everyone else in the vicinity.” Mr. Arundel further commented: “Due to its location, the magnitude of the Humber Bridge and the presence of traffic, it is no surprise occasionally we are asked to host such exercises and we are very happy to do so as part of our partnership working with the emergency services.” He also confirmed that the drill would not cause any disruption to traffic on or in the vicinity of the bridge. Humberside Fire & Rescue, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and Humberside Police are jointly conducting this exercise. Emergency services personnel are expected to arrive at the Humber Bridge Car Park around 08:00 GMT, with the full exercise scheduled to commence at approximately 10:30.
