Gary Caldwell’s team has recorded seven victories and eight defeats in their 18 League One fixtures this season. Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell stated that his squad “threw away the game” due to their display in the second half against Stockport County. Despite facing strong headwinds from Storm Darragh during the first half, Exeter held the score at 0-0 going into the break. However, Stockport netted two goals in the second half to secure their win. This defeat places Exeter in 11th position in League One, seven points adrift of the play-off spots. Caldwell conveyed his feelings to BBC Radio Devon, saying, “It’s a big disappointment because I thought we did a lot of things really well in this game.” He further added, “We’ve just kind of thrown three points away.” Caldwell noted that while his team’s build-up play was exceptional, they failed to make the correct decisions at critical moments. He elaborated, “We play through so many times and get in areas where we need more within the final third, whether that’s a run, a pass, a bit of quality.” Regarding the opposition, Caldwell commented, “You can see in them they’ve got one of the best players in the league in Louie Barry, they don’t need to do a lot to create a chance because of an individual piece of quality that he has.” He concluded by stating, “Whenever he got the ball he was a threat, and we had so much good play, but it didn’t result in enough and that’s something we have to keep working on.” Post navigation Statistical Preview: Preston North End vs. Hull City Everton Secures Goalless Draw Against West Ham, Pickford Instrumental
