Cult Leader’s Radicalization Culminates in Coroner Kidnap Attempt

However, beneath his amiable exterior lay malevolent aims to indoctrinate, implicate, and financially exploit his receptive adherents. The question arises: how did he manage to convince his followers to assault a courthouse and try to abduct a senior coroner? On April 20, 2023, Lincoln Brookes received an urgent phone call from a colleague while en route to his workplace. Area coroner Michelle Brown informed him, “Those people who are in that letter… they are coming to get you.” Mr. Brookes arrived at Essex Coroner’s Court later than his customary time that day, owing to an urgent family commitment. If he had arrived punctually, the highly-regarded senior coroner would have been restrained with handcuffs, forced into a vehicle, and abducted from Chelmsford. The subsequent events remain known only to Mark Christopher, 59, Sean Harper, 45, Shiza Harper, 38, and Matthew Martin, 47. In July, all individuals were convicted at Chelmsford Crown Court of conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to commit false imprisonment. On Monday, Christopher received a seven-year prison sentence, while the other defendants were incarcerated for 30 months. Christopher, who identifies as the “chief judge” of
