A greenhouse located on the premises of Jersey’s Government House may be demolished to create additional parking facilities. A planning application for the removal of the 19th-century building on St Saviours Hill has been submitted on behalf of the lieutenant-governor. Specialists have stated that the greenhouse, affixed to a granite wall, is in such a poor state of repair that it is impacting the wall’s structural integrity. The proposal, categorized as minor, aims to prepare the site and enlarge the parking zone, in addition to repointing and repairing the wall, and undertaking shoring works for the existing potting shed. Information available on the government’s website states that planning staff have a goal to decide 85% of minor applications within eight weeks.
