Ten players from Bristol Bears, a Premiership club, have prolonged their contracts. Among those who have agreed to new terms are AJ MacGinty, the league’s leading points-scorer and a USA international who has played 45 times for Bristol since his 2022 arrival from Sale, along with hooker Gabriel Oghre and loosehead prop Jake Woolmore. The club has commenced the season robustly, securing six victories in its initial eight matches, placing them alongside Bath at the summit of the Premiership table. The announcement of these 10 new contracts has been presented by the club as an early Christmas gift to its supporters. Director of rugby Pat Lam stated, “We’re building a squad that can play the Bears way, with a mixture of guys that have been on the journey for a number of years and the addition of some quality international players. But the most exciting part is that we are bringing through a group of homegrown young players who have taken their opportunity through hard work and desire to do well for their community.” The specific duration of these new contracts has not been disclosed by the club. Jake Woolmore’s renewed agreement will see him enter his eighth season with Bristol.
