Law enforcement has taken two individuals into custody on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a deceased woman in her seventies. Authorities reported that emergency personnel responded to “an address” on Harrison Street in Ramsbottom around 04:20 GMT on Tuesday, prompted by calls expressing concern for a woman’s well-being. The woman, who was in her seventies, was declared deceased at the location. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that a man and a woman, both aged in their thirties, are currently being held for interrogation. According to police, the deceased woman’s next of kin have been notified and are receiving assistance from specialized officers. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted, police indicated. Detective Inspector Chris Mannion stated that officers are “working to piece together a timeline of events.” He added, “We believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community.” Mannion also urged, “I would urge anyone with concerns, or information to share, to speak with our officers.” He further mentioned that additional patrols would be deployed in the vicinity throughout the investigation.
