Rory Kavanagh, a Donegal All-Ireland winner, has been appointed as the new manager of Glen. He succeeds Malachy O’Rourke, who departed to become Tyrone manager in September. O’Rourke’s tenure, which began in late 2020, saw the club secure three county titles, two Ulster Club triumphs, and an All-Ireland success last January. During his playing career, Kavanagh won the Sam Maguire in 2012 and claimed three Ulster titles with his county. He began his managerial career with his former club, St Eunan’s, in November 2020, guiding them to their first Donegal SFC title in seven years during his inaugural season. Kavanagh concluded his role with St Eunan’s following the 2023 championship. Glen recently experienced a 1-12 to 2-8 defeat against Newbridge in the Derry Senior Football final last month. This unexpected loss concluded their three-year dominance of the competition and ended their aspirations to retain their Derry, Ulster, and All-Ireland titles.
