Iwan Roberts: Matt Grimes needs to score more goals for Swansea City

Former footballer Iwan Roberts expressed his view that Matt Grimes ought to increase his goal tally for Swansea City, even after Grimes’ recent strike secured a point for Luke Williams’ squad against Luton Town. However, Swansea captain Grimes delivered a superb equalizer in the second half, ensuring the match concluded with a 1-1 scoreline. Roberts, a former Wales striker, asserted that central midfielder Grimes must improve his goal-scoring output, noting that this was only his second goal of the current season. “People will look at Luton’s position and think it’s a game that they should go there and get at least a draw, but Luton had won their previous two home games,” Roberts stated during an interview on BBC Radio Wales Breakfast. He continued, “They should have won it looking at the highlights, they had plenty of opportunities.” Roberts also commented on the opening goal, saying, “It was a disappointing goal to give away, a rare mistake from Ben Cabango gave Adebayo the opportunity to put Luton ahead on 17 minutes.” Regarding Grimes’ goal, Roberts remarked, “Fantastic strike to equalise by Matt Grimes. He doesn’t score enough goals, it’s only his second goal of the season.” He further elaborated on Grimes’ career record, stating, “He’s only scored 10 league goals in just shy of 300 league appearances for Swansea.”
