The proprietors of a furniture store in Cobham, Surrey, expressed their astonishment when Brian May, the renowned guitarist from Queen, arrived to play guitar while dressed in his pyjamas. This appearance was part of a music video being filmed at Cobham Furniture for the new single by X Factor singer Talia Dean, a friend of May’s. The track, “You Made Your Bed,” was released on Friday, with 10% of its proceeds designated for the Crisis homelessness charity. May, who mentors Dean and resides in Surrey, also contributes a guitar solo to the song. Dean shared with BBC Radio Surrey: “He’s such a good friend and a good person. “If you say to him ‘look I’m filming a crazy video in a furniture shop where we’re all going to be bouncing on beds and causing chaos – are you up for it?’ he goes ‘I’m in, tell me where and when and I’ll bring nine amps!’.” She further described his performance: “He plays the guitar the whole way through but then has a 16-bar absolute corker of a guitar solo in the middle, which isn’t done these days and he absolutely smashes it and rips and shreds through the song and I love it – and he does it in a pair of pyjamas.” Despite the years since she reached the live show finals of the X Factor in 2017, an experience she labeled “brutal, ruthless and cut-throat,” Dean is enthusiastic about the release of her latest single. However, she noted that the music industry has changed from “the days like Queen when they handed Bohemian Rhapsody to a DJ and said ‘play this!’.” Dean characterized her new track as “joyful” and added that the money raised for charity would help “get people in beds over the winter.” She explained, “A lot of people end up homeless because of relationship breakdowns and being in toxic environments and having to flee.” Follow BBC Surrey on Facebook and on X for updates.
