Pupils from a secondary school in Surrey have contributed hundreds of Christmas gifts to families requiring assistance. Specifically, over 400 presents were provided by students of Guildford High School. This effort forms part of the school’s yearly contribution to The Hive, a community hub operated by Guildford Borough Council. Since commencing its support for this initiative in 2021, the school has collectively supplied over 1,500 gifts. Carla Morson, who serves as the lead councillor for community and organisational development, stated: “Thanks to the generosity of Guildford High School students, we’re able to bring joy to children and families who need it most this festive season.” “Through the strength of community and the impact of giving, we hope to continue spreading some Christmas cheer in years to come.” The council stated that the presents are provided to families that are supported by the community wellbeing team or those referred by home link workers or partner organisations. Jenni Hall, representing Guildford High School, commented: “We are committed to supporting local community initiatives, and this has very much become part of Christmas at Guildford High School.”
