Tony Docherty, manager of Dundee, expressed his expectation that the club’s collaboration with Mexican team Monterrey will provide his squad with a competitive edge, particularly after the loan signing of 19-year-old Cesar Garza. Garza, a defensive midfielder, has reached Dundee in anticipation of his January loan commencement and possesses prior first-team experience with the club that has won the CONCACAF Champions League five times. Docherty commented on the new arrival, stating, “He’s a good character,” adding, “Obviously our experience with Antonio Portales and the amount that we’ve watched him, we’re confident we’re bringing in a really good player and again, it will increase competition for places.” He further elaborated on the connection to Monterrey through another player: “Antonio was a young player at Monterrey himself, so he knows. He’s been here, he’s settled in.” Docherty concluded, “He’s come in and he’s met the rest of the boys and he’ll train with us over the next couple of days, but really excited to get him in the building.” Docherty specifically praised the club’s leadership for their innovative approach, remarking, “The thing I really need to commend the club on, particularly [owners] John Nelms and Tim Keyes, we’re always thinking outside the box. Where can we look at another market?” He emphasized the value of the collaboration, stating, “We’ve established a partnership with a fantastic club in Monterrey.” Docherty concluded by outlining the benefits: “The by-product of that is that we’ll get good players in, they’ll get good experience coming and playing in Scotland and it’s just another way you’re trying to be a wee bit ahead of the game.” Post navigation Stephan Lewies Extends Contract with Harlequins Arsenal Reportedly Faces £85m Release Clause for Kudus; Sporting Director Search Continues
