A flat that has been the subject of anti-social behaviour complaints is now inaccessible to its occupants, following an order granted to the police. The property, located at 5 Trelowen Way in Hempsted, Peterborough, can now only be entered by emergency services, the local council, and a housing association. Magistrates in Cambridge issued the full closure order to the neighbourhood policing team responsible for the area. PC Steph Williams stated: “Our efforts to tackle the concerns raised about this property included community protection warnings, but further action was required.” The closure order was effective until 6 March. Non-compliance with the order could result in imprisonment for up to three months or a fine. PC Williams further commented: “We hope those affected by the tenant’s behaviour now have some much-needed respite. This shows we are listening to them, and we will continue to monitor the situation and deal robustly with any breaches.” Follow Peterborough news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X.
