Officials have confirmed the closure of a section of the A63 in Hull following the discovery of a defect in a bridge joint. Specifically, one lane of the westbound carriageway has been shut down for urgent repairs at the intersection with the A1166, near St Andrews Quay. This lane will stay closed for safety until engineers complete the necessary repair work. National Highways has advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and has issued a warning regarding potential increased congestion in the vicinity. A spokesperson stated: “We are working hard to complete the work as soon as possible and thank road users for their patience.” This particular bridge experienced a previous closure in January, when engineers identified an issue during a routine inspection. Additionally, drivers utilizing the A63 are encountering a sequence of overnight closures between Daltry Street and Roger Millward Way, affecting both directions, as part of the ongoing multi-million pound Castle Street project.
